Is perfume discounted to consumers a good deal?
By Cynthia Andre
Before we can answer that question, we have to take a look at the "buying experience". It may not be worth it.
If you have ever come across that man in a suit waiting at your car in the grocery store parking lot, you know he is trying to sell perfume discounted. Many times do these sales people find us caught off guard whether it is in a mall, in a parking lot, or even at a movie theater. And by all means, they do not mean to seem pushy; they simply want to be able to put food on the table for their families. The problem with trying to sell perfumed discounted in this manner is that consumers do not like to feel pushed into purchasing something they really know nothing about. It’s not like you can afford to spend thirty minutes in the parking lot while you learn about the product because if you did, your ice cream would be melted by the time you got home. These circumstances create a viscous cycle.
When one has no choice but to pedal perfume discounted to consumers that are usually on the go when they are encountered, they learn how to become serious sales people, eager and pressuring at the same time. This type of sales method will lose more sales than it will gain, so at the end of the day the sales person has a box full of perfume discounted, still waiting to be sold. This encourages them go out and try even harder the next day, creating not only a frustrated sales person, but many frustrated consumers who may have once thought of purchasing perfume discounted if it was the right time and place. Most of the time, the sales person will push hard for a sale of their perfume because they know they will never see the consumer again, and this is their one shot at making the sale.

But if they offered some sort of flyer or business card with product information to go along with their contact information, they might be surprised as to how many more perfume discounted sales they can generate this way. Their employers will advise against this method, claiming that consumers will never buy if given the opportunity to leave the sale with product information. In all reality, these companies want to see a quick profit for their perfume discounted. To them, it doesn’t matter how the sale is made long as the sales does actually get made, and they would rather the sale be made on sooner than later. So next time you see one of these perfume discounted sales people, you might think of giving them an opportunity to close the deal with you.
